OpenAI has unveiled ChatGPT Health, a specialized platform designed to help users securely manage their health information and provide intelligent assistance for wellness-related inquiries.

With over 230 million people using ChatGPT weekly for health inquiries, the company recognized the need for a dedicated, secure space to handle sensitive medical data.

What Is ChatGPT Health?

ChatGPT Health operates as a separate, protected section within ChatGPT where users can consolidate scattered health information from medical portals, fitness apps, wearables, and PDFs.

The platform helps users understand lab results, prepare for doctor appointments, manage diet and workout routines, and navigate healthcare decisions, all while maintaining strict privacy standards.

The platform features enhanced security measures specifically designed for health data. Key protections include:

Feature Description
Dedicated Space Health conversations are kept separate with isolated memories.
Purpose-Built Encryption Health data is protected with encryption at rest and in transit.
No Model Training Health conversations are not used to train ChatGPT models.
Easy Controls Users can delete memories, disconnect apps, and manage access easily.

Users can enable multi-factor authentication to enhance security, ensuring only authorized users can access sensitive health information.

ChatGPT Health partners with b.well, a secure healthcare network, to connect medical records directly from trusted U.S. providers.

The platform also integrates popular wellness apps, including Apple Health, MyFitnessPal, Function, Weight Watchers, Peloton, and others, all with explicit user permission and rigorous security reviews.

Developed With Medical Professionals

OpenAI collaborated with more than 260 physicians worldwide, across 60 countries and multiple specialties.

This physician-led approach shaped how Health responds to medical questions, emphasizing safety, clarity, and appropriate escalation to healthcare providers.

The system uses HealthBench, a clinical evaluation framework, to ensure responses meet real-world medical standards.

ChatGPT Health is available to Free, Go, Plus, and Pro plan users outside the European Economic Area, Switzerland, and the United Kingdom.

Medical record integrations are currently U.S.-only and require Apple Health on iOS devices. Users can sign up for the waitlist to request early access.

Once available, users select ‘Health’ from the sidebar, connect their health data, and begin personalized conversations grounded in their medical information.

ChatGPT Health represents a significant step toward patient empowerment while maintaining the highest standards of data protection and medical accuracy.
